We all love Whatsapp. The convenience of connecting with people, sharing moments or laughing together has what made this Facebook owned company gain nearly a billion users. And today it has been announced that Whatsapp will be rolling out a cloud backup feature to help you save your memories in the cloud.
Facebook has now partnered with Google to bring the Google Drive Integration to Whatsapp, allowing you to automatically backup all your chat messages and multimedia content regularly to the Drive.
Whatsapp will let you backup your :
- Chat History
- Photos
- Videos
- Voice Messages
You can also choose to backup your data on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. This new feature will also help a user to restore content from the cloud if they switch to a new phone.
Google also states that all the data uploaded to Google Drive will be encrypted that means no one can read your messages.
“Google Drive offers them a native, seamless and safe way to back up their multimedia in the cloud, with added security thanks to encryption.“, says Brian Acton, Co-founder WhatsApp.
Whatsapp will roll out this latest version in the coming months to the Google Play Store but you can download the official APK directly from Whatsapp.
